Walnuts are a highly nutritious food that make a great snack on their own or added to salads. They are a terrific vegetarian source of omega three fats, and also high in vitamin E and the minerals manganese and copper.
Latest research, published on 23rd September 2013 has found that walnuts can protect against diabetes and heart disease. This was based on a consumption of 56g of raw English walnuts a day ( this equates to about 8 whole nuts).
Most supermarkets now sell snack bags of raw nuts (my personal favourite is Lidl Californian Walnuts). Consider adding these to your daily diet.
