My fantastic Zumba teacher Enrico @MaticoZumba is working us really hard to get our bodies in shape for summer. Emily and I totally agree with his longer term approach to health and weight, as crash diets and last minute exercise binges aren’t sustainable and are more likely to lead to long term weight gain and to injury.

So, now is the time to get out of the mindset of winter comfort eating and start to eat well balanced lighter meals, with plenty of lean protein and lovely spring vegetables. Spinach, green beans, peas, and spring lettuce all come into season in March and are packed with nutrients and low in calories. Ditch the winter puddings and opt for yoghurt (full fat) with fruit or healthy fruit crumbles with oat and nut toppings.
